On March 23rd 2011, Alex Jordan granted permission on behalf of Uncommon Sense to host recordings on the Live Music Archive:
Hello!
My name is Alex Jordan and I'm the leader singer/lead guitarist for the Bay area based band Uncommon Sense. We're huge audiophiles and love to tape our shows and have had a few fans tape them as well. While we're a pretty small band at this point, we thought we'd like to continue to encourage the trading and making of tapes of our live music. We constantly use the Archive as a means of hearing great live music of bands we like and (while this REALLY only applies to me) are huge collectors of Grateful Dead and like-band shows.
Here's what we think;
When we play music, its for everyone to hear. Our goal is to try to make live music as accessible to the listener as possible. There is nothing like sharing in the experience of a live show, be it in person or at a later date. Whether a prized Soundboard or a ragged Audience tape, the music lives on through that shared energy between band an audience. Who are we to step in its way?
Music isn't about money, its about music. Yes, we would like to make our living doing it, but the trading and listening of live recordings will not inhibit this dream as we see it. We would love to be included on the Archive. We'll gladly post whatever recordings we have and encourage our fans to do the same.
Sincerely,
Alex Jordan and Uncommon Sense
